07.17.08 Journal Page & Art Unraveled

Here’s a journal page I did last night. I did most of this in bed last night while using my little table top easel on top of my breakfast-in-bed tray thingy. It worked pretty well. (I use the table-top easel so I don’t have to look down while I work.)

The color looks a little flat in the scan . .. it’s much richer in real-life.

I want to thank every one who posted comments or e-mailed me with concern and support about my neck problems. Right now, it’s doing better–my neck pain and migraines always cycle between a lot of pain and doing okay. So, I’m appreciative that I’m not in a lot of pain right now. I will see an orthopedist who is a neck specialist in August, right after I return from teaching several workshops at Art Unraveled in Phoenix, AZ.

Two of the classes I’m teaching there, Goco a Gogo, and Printing Blocks MacGyver Style are full, but there is still room and it’s not too late to sign up for my brand new class Zine Machine.

“In this process/project oriented class, you will become part of a mixed-media production team, who, through my artful guidance will render an on-the-spot luscious zine/chapbook/artist book. Call it what you will—there is no “proper” term for the piece of inspirational eye candy that we will be creating, both together as a team and individually. Not only will I be directing the production, I’ll be working right along with you as an integral member of the team. I will give you assignments and exercises in class based on my non-traditional style of working. These exercises and methods that I have honed over the years as an artist, will light your fires of creativity and inspiration to get both your mind and hands moving. This will enhance all areas of your artistic work, whether it is visual or written. . . . “

This class is going to be fabulous, and the more people in the class, the greater our finished books will be. So if you are thinking of maybe going to Art Unraveled, do it! And take this class! You can register online here. See you there!

Hello. I am signed up for the zine class and am more excited about it than anything else going on that week. I hope we get a full class and a fat book, too. Someone asked me if people who were not enrolled in this class can still buy one of the books like class members can.
And for whatever it is worth, I am disappointed that the McGyver class is already full. Maybe next time. I hope you feel great yesterday and are fine for class and a long time to come.

Hi Traci, I just came to your site after reading Kaleidoscope. Love your work! I noticed you mentioned some good movies for watching while journaling and wanted to add another one to your list: Wildflowers by Melissa Painter (Daryl Hannah, Eric Roberts and Clea Duvall). Wildflowers was shot in San Francisco and is an excellent and very artful film.
    Best,
    A
