I’m back from my trip to Santa Fe. I had a great time, and it went too fast. The above journal page I did while I was eating lunch at the burrito connection on the last day of 2008. A few people sitting near me were trying to figure out what I was doing without thinking they were obvious, especially when I stood on my chair to take the pictures. It really is possible to journal in places without needing too many supplies. Just be sure to ask for extra napkins. I did most of it at the restaurant and finished up back at my friend’s house.
On New Year’s Day, we went for a drive to Madrid. It’s a cute tiny town filled with shops and galleries, and the film Wild Hogs was filmed there . . . Not much of a surprise that only one shop made mention of it, selling t-shirts. We stopped through Los Cerrillos on the way back to Santa Fe and my religious kitsch radar went off as we started to turn the other direction, so we did a quick u-turn. Later that night, we saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. If you haven’t seen it yet, DO! I highly recommend it. It was a great way to end the first day of a new year.
The next day we went for a walk-about around downtown in the afternoon. The light was great, and I got some great photos with my various cameras. Luckily the weather was nice.

The next day on our way to downtown, we noticed some Native American dancers. I don’t know what tribe they are from, but their feathered head dresses were wonderful. Later in the afternoon, we went to 10,000 Waves. It’s a wonderful Japanese Spa, and really a treat. You can get massages, or use the hot tubs or saunas.
The adobe in the last picture was across from Dan’s apartment. It kept catching my eye because it wasn’t the traditional adobe color, it was much lighter, almost an off-white. Then it snowed the day before I left, and it looked even better.
Now I’m back to my reality. It was fun to escape for awhile, and it was a great way to end the year and start off a new one. Happy New Year!

Love that journal spread. And thanks for bringing back memories to me from my recent trip to Santa Fe!
Those pinhole shots are amazing. I love seeing my favorite places through someone else’s eyes. Thanks for sharing.
These are awesome Traci. I remember seeing you here and there at AU last year, but I didn’t know who you were. I taught in the room next to you at the location we had to shuttle to. Take care!
