A week or so ago, someone asked me how much I spin every week. (That is spinning yarn spinning–not bicycle spinning!) I sadly told them I hardly ever have time to spin. Spinning has always been a peaceful activity that grounds me, and I need that back in my life. I don’t really take time during the day to relax because I always feel like I’m behind and should be working instead. But I came up with a solution that so far is working great! I don’t watch much TV, but when I do, I’m always multi-tasking. For what ever reason, I sometimes like to watch Law and Order: Criminal Intent reruns during the day. I decided that I would let myself watch it (without feeling guilty), and that would be my time to get some spinning in. When the show started, time to take a break from work and spin (and watch). When it was over, time to get back to work. There have been a few days where I decided I needed to finish what I was working on instead of taking a break, but for the most part, I’m happy I’m doing this. It gives me a break mid-day, and I get to do something fun and productive.
So here are some new yarns that I’ve spun up during my Law and Order breaks. And they are for sale in my etsy shop. Both are spun from fiber that I’ve hand-dyed.
The puffy one is Tera Rosa Puff. The fiber is a blend of 64% merino/14% tussah silk/11% denim/11% cotton with a rayon binder. It’s pretty bulky but lofty and soft. I have two skeins right now: one is about 24 yds/1.1 oz, and the other is 32 yds/1.2 oz.
The smooth & shiny yarn is Kaleidoscope Bamboo/merino. It’s a blend of 60% merino/40% bamboo. The bamboo is what gives the sheen, and it’s super soft. I spun it up from different dye batches of my bamboo/merino spinning fiber that I dye and sell.
approx 138 yds; approx 2.9 oz.
Both of these yarns would be fine for knitting, crochet or weaving.

it’s been awhile since i popped over here – your yarns are beautiful, lovely…i only wish i knew how to knit or crochet. i’ve tried a couple times and gotten myself knotted up. having an experienced knitter by me to help undo/redo is really important. books help but not the same. i thought it was so funny to read you like to watch Law and Order reruns during the day – me too! (not everyday, after all you can only enjoy a rerun so many times). i have a little tv in my studio that i turn on occasionally so i can work and watch. i think a lot of the draw to the show for me is the music at the beginning, i used to feel the same way about the music from Rawhide when i was a kid.
