I hadn’t worked in my journal for awhile, and have been in a funk, partly because of the dreary weather, and also because of other things. So I decided it was time to work in my journal and do a gratitude list, which I try to do on a regular basis. I truly believe you have to acknowledge the good things in your life in order to be open and make room for more good things. Sometimes it’s hard to feel like there is anything good. But, there is always something to be thankful for, and if you get in the practice of always looking for the good in your life, and acknowledging it, it’s much easier, and you feel better. So here’s your call to action.
If you are a visual journaler, grab your journal and a few supplies and make a spread about gratitude however you want to do it, but be sure to list all of the things you are grateful for. For those of you who aren’t visual journalers, you can still do this. Just get your written journal or a piece of paper and write about everything you have to be thankful for, no matter how frivolous it might seem. As you start writing, you’ll think of more and more things to be grateful for that you can add to your list or journal spread. In my spread, all of the text is “I am grateful for . . . I am grateful for . . .” listing a different thing each time. I feel in the crazy times we are living in now, with the economy in the state it’s in and everything else going on, it’s really important to be grateful for what we have, and how lucky we are. I make a point to do this when I feel myself in a down swing because it always makes me feel better. When I started working in my journal, with music playing and dancing around (see my Call to Action #1), I felt the bad funk lifting and the good funk finding its groove. I felt so much better after wards. It also reminded me that working in my journal is really important to me, and I have to get back into making time to do it because it keeps me balanced and happy.
So this morning when I woke up, I decided after walking my dog, Ruby, and eating, I should head straight out to my art house and work in my journal. I was so happy, I was bouncing off the walls. Here’s what I did.
If you look near the bottom left corner, you’ll see a child-like drawing of the photo of me. My drawing skills have gotten so rusty from not doing it. But I still like to include drawing in my work, and I actually love that wonky kid-like look. I did this drawing by holding the marker by the very end of it and not looking at what I was drawing (too much!).
Set aside some time and make your gratitude list. Let me know how it goes! And thanks to everyone for the positive comments on my previous call to action! I felt great posting it, and felt even greater getting the positive comments from everyone.

Thanks for the call, Traci! I am almost finished with a gratitude spread in my new journal (the first one I ever made!) and its interesting the difference between what I like and what I am grateful for, I like to think, so that is a good distinction to puzz over. Look forward to the next one. Be well!
Christopher
I totally agree about the music and dancing while journaling. It really helps to lift you and get you in a REAL groove…that’s what I did last week…I’m gonna have to do it again!
Thanks for the call, this was good I really needed to do this.
I did this last night, and I am not sure what happened, but this morning, I felt happy and lighter than I have in a while. Some kind of magic has taken place!
I need to do this more often. I used to do a 10 Things to be Thankful For gratitude list daily. A good thing to get back into, methinks!
Hi Traci, Thank you for issuing this challenge I have been thinking about it for several weeks
now.
