I’m having motivational issues. It’s freaking cold. There’s a lot of snow. I don’t feel like doing anything even though I need to. So I thought I should make a chocolate hot toddy. Here’s what I came up with.
please note: 1: I’m lactose intolerant, so I used vanilla soy milk. You can use regular milk, but then you’ll need to sweeten it, or use a sweetened cocoa. 2: I don’t like to measure, so I don’t.)
Mix up a heaping teaspoon of Ghirardella Unsweetened Cocoa into a mug of vanilla soy milk, and zap in the microwave for 1.5 minutes or so.
* add some whiskey (I used Jim Beam because that’s what I’ve got)
* add some Godiva Milk Chocolate Liqueur (I happened to have some to make chocolate martinis–which I haven’t made yet)
* add some vanilla extract
* stir it and drink it
I have to say, it tastes a little weird. I got more vanilla extract in than I meant to. So I’m not sure if it’s because of that, or maybe I shouldn’t add both the liqueur AND the whiskey. I think I’ll try it with just the whiskey next time. I am determined to perfect this.

It sounds interesting, but I'm wondering: did it help motivate you or did it put you to sleep? It's hard to stay awake and get things done when you're freezing your hiney off, isn't it?
Laura, Yes, the cold really is a damper when it comes to motivation! And no, the chocolate hot toddy was not a motivator, but it was a fun distraction!
Hey Babe! Your old auntie here makes cocoa with a generous shot of 151 rum and a slug of baileys. That'll cure what ails ya! Happy New Year!
