Hello! remember me?

01.23.10

Hey, it’s been awhile since I posted. Winter has not been kind to me. Well, I don’t think it’s been kind to many people. But, let’s just say on top of the crazy cold, and crazy amount of snow we’ve had, it’s been one thing after another. But here I am again. And I’m posting a journal page for you!

I haven’t had time (or made time) to work in my journal as much as I’d like to. And I decided not to post everything that I have done in it. I felt I needed a little more privacy with my journal. I found I was starting to censor myself because I didn’t want the whole world to know all of my business, or see all of my business, and I didn’t like the self censorship. I had to remind myself that I don’t have to post everything I do in my journal. It seems silly to have to give yourself permission to keep some things private, but it was needed, and I felt better afterward.

Anyway, this year, I really want to try to get some sort of a working schedule for myself that includes time to make art and work in my journal. When I get busy, those things go out the window unfortunately. They are part of my self-care, and they are important. So, I need to find a way to have it be a more consistent part of my routine. I’ve never been good with schedules, but I need to figure out how to make one for myself that I can stick to. Especially because I’m starting to work on a new book! Yes, that’s right. I’m not giving out the details yet so don’t even ask! And if you are one of the few people who know what it’s about, keep quiet! But I’m super excited about it, especially since my first book isn’t even out yet. It means the publisher is happy with my work and they have faith in me! YAY! I’m also excited that my (first) book will be out April 1st. And the way time is flying by, it’ll be here before we know it.

Aside from working on my new book, and trying to stick to a schedule, I’m going to start some online workshops. I’m still trying to figure out the logistics of how to do them. But I’ll let you know when I’m ready to start.

And that brings me to another point. I’m putting together a mailing list so that I can do online newsletters, announcements, and keep you all informed about workshops, sales, and other things that of course will be interesting. So, please sign up for my mailing list! I promise I won’t give away or sell your e-mail address (I don’t know how to do that anyway).

Wow, it made a really long box. Oh well. I’ve got other things to do instead of dinking around with it. Thanks for signing up, and I promise you’ll hear from me sooner this last time!

I went through the same thing with my blog – I was putting almost everything out there and starting to feel weird if I did and selfish if I didn't. I'm much happier now that I don't share so much, and I also have half the readers, but that's okay!

I preordered your book – it looks like a fun one! Congrats! See you in Hampton.

Your pages always inspire me and are just so amazing. I love your work

Winter stinks (and that's being nice). Can't wait for your journaling class at A&S Hampton. I rarely put *any* words in my art journal for the same reason you blogged about….

Hey everyone, thanks for the nice words. It's nice to be back, so to speak, especially after getting such a warm response.

I'll definitely post info when I get the online classes going. I've heard Ning can be confusing for the participants. Sso I want to figure out if there is a better alternative that doesn't include reinventing the wheel or a lot of work to set up. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

And yes, remember, your journal really can be just for your eyes only. And if you do share some of the work, you don't have to share everything! Obviously, I have to remind myself that as well.

Gina, and anyone else going to Art & Soul in Hampton–I look forward to seeing you there. It'll be here before we know it!
