a 2-Day Visual Journaling workshop
March 6-7, 2010; 10-5:30pm with 1-1/2 hour lunch break
Bonkers Art House in East Lawrence, Lawrence KS
In this 2-day visual journaling workshop, we’ll apply the annual ritual of spring cleaning to our personal and creative lives. Through various journaling and automatic writing exercises, using paint, markers, pens, rubber stamps, collage and personalized imagery, we’ll create artful pages and visualizations. We’ll work on clearing out the deadwood, purging, and shedding light on those cobwebbed corners that are weighing us down, allowing for new growth and fresh air. Purging and cleaning causes a shift, allowing room for new energy and movement to come into play. Clearing out the dead wood and things from the past that no longer serve us allows for the germination of spring buds and new beginnings.
As is necessary with a good spring cleaning, elbow grease, supplied by me, is needed to help you dig deeper and go below the surface to really get rid of the grime. Since this is a 2-day workshop, there will be time for deeper work on each exercise, and also time for exploration on your personal path where these exercises lead you. It will also allow me to give more individual guidance to each workshop participant geared toward their personal spring cleaning.
For those unfamiliar with visual journaling, it is personal expression created through art-making and writing. No art or writing experience is necessary for this workshop, just a willingness to be open to creative and personal exploration. The process is the importance of the journey, not the final product.
