I had oversized postcards printed at Vistaprint.com to promote myself. This is a journal page I did, but didn’t have any writing or text on it. So it was perfect to use, adding text over the stamped background from hand-craved stamps. People might think this particular journal page was an odd choice for promotional materials since the photo of me is a little odd. But I used it to make a point. My whole thing with art journaling is that it’s the process and not the finished product and I use pictures of me that are “me,” not always the glamor model that I am in real life (ha!). When I teach workshops, I see people not wanting to use pictures of themselves because they don’t like the picture, or how they look in it, etc. And people have commented that they are surprised that I often use pictures of myself where I’m not looking so hot. Well, I don’t always look hot. Sometimes I look like death warmed over, and that’s just life. Accept it! But a journal page is a slice of time, and so is a picture, good or bad, just like feelings.
The cards were just delivered and am really happy with how they look. The back has my bio and contact info.
