I have gone through 2 sketchbooks now with this project! I needed another, and since I like to make books, I decided to make my own. I used the covers from a kid’s book for the covers, and filled it with 90 lb watercolor paper. I used a mix of Canson Watercolor paper and inexpensive watercolor paper from Michael’s. It’s about 7.5″ x 10″.
I liked all of these sketches, but decided to use the second one. I like the simplicity, and imperfection of the circle. And, I thought it could make some great borders, or over-all patterns.
I’ve been doing so much of everything lately on my couch (due to the not-so-fun weather and it’s too cold to heat my studio). So I looked around to see what was nearby to draw, and this is what I came up with.
I really like the bigger size of my new sketchbook. The other two I used were smaller (5.5″ x 8″). Here are my other posts for this project.

Wonderful!
Creating your own art journal book is always fun.
Thank you for sharing.
Once again, your stamping is very inspiring. :]

I love your sketchbook! Did you have it spiral bound at an office supply store? Thanks for the inspiration – both eraser carving and drawing. I've hauled out my carving tool and have dabbled a little in eraser carving. It's such a fun tactile activity and it gets me in drawing mode since I'm at my desk anyway.
I am thoroughly enjoying this whole series.
Best,
Deb D.
Thanks April!
Deborah, I bound it myself. Sometimes I make books that I sell and if it's warm enough this weekend, I just might make some for sale . . . ! I'm glad you are enjoying this. Today is my last day and I'm a little sad!
