Tonight was Final Friday downtown, which is the gallery crawl. Tonight it wasn’t nearly as hot out, so everyone was downtown taking advantage of being able to actually walk around outside without feeling like you were going to shrivel up like a slug with salt poured on it. Sometimes I’m disappointed when I go to the gallery crawl. But tonight I saw some great art in quite a few places. It was still bright enough that I took some photos with my iPod Touch. I loved Mark Thomas Hennessy’s paintings in the top photo.

The above photo is of some graffiti right next to an ATM machine that’s built into a wall. I thought the graffiti was lovely.
Right outside one of the shops showing art was a guy who kept asking people to stand on him while he laid on broken pieces of glass.
When I went home, I just didn’t know what I wanted to do for my 30 days. I decided to work in my journal, on the page I started on Day 27.
I was kind of struggling with it. I think mainly because I was tired. I stayed up until 2am last night, and my cat woke me up at 5am to be fed. Anyway . . . I thought about stopping on it after I collaged and painted the large virgin mary. But, I pushed myself and things started flowing after I got moving. The large virgin mary is a photo copy of a picture I took, and blew up 400%. It was very faint, which worked to my advantage. I drew and painted on it with watercolors, and it looks more like a drawing then a photograph. The stamps on the background are from a hand-carved stamp. And I used my Copic Airbrush System to stencil the heart doily that is partially covered up by the Mother and Child image. Don’t ask about the accordion guy. But he insisted on being there. So I let him stay.
Tomorrow is the last day! You can see the rest of my posts for this project here.

You are certainly inspiring me to get back to journaling everyday…..THANKS for doing these challenges Traci!
And then there was ONE, OMG one more day until this challenge is over. I have to admit that the last couple of days have been difficult (once again I’m posting late tonight) but I pulled through and created a new upcycled sketch book which you can see at:

Traci, thank you so much for starting this challenge it has truly been a test of my will to be creative everyday; not an easy task when the summer days get busy. I have enjoyed the process and look forward to starting a new challenge in August of creating an ATC a week (this way I can play and have time to blog without rushing). Anyone looking to participate can leave a comment on my blog for details, in the end I would like to be able to do an ATC trade out of it. Recieving art mail is fun!!
Hope eveyone is getting their art on today
