30 Days of Get Your Art On – Day 10

lower mary 1

I spent the morning and the early afternoon getting the tree branches off of my trailer. It’s done. I did as much as I could do by myself with loppers. Pulling the very tall branch off of the trailer by myself was quite a chore. I’m small. It was big and I’m sure weighed more than me. Luckily the neighbor happened to come out as I was bagging it all up, and she helped bag the branches. She couldn’t believe I got the big branch off by myself. But hey, I’m super Traci. Then a friend came over with a chain saw and chopped it up for me. More bagging. All of this resulted in 2 showers and 3 changes of clothing because the heat index today here was around 110, and the actual temperature got up to 102 I believe. I still don’t know if there is any damage to the roof of my Art House. It’s so tall and steep, I can’t just “look.” But in dealing with the tree, I did see there’s something going wrong on the back of my Art House. The trim is pulling off of the building on both sides. I hope it’s just the trim and not the actual siding. I’m not sure how to fix this, or if it’s a bigger problem than it looks (to me it looks like a problem). For now, I’ll pretend like it’s okay because I don’t know what to do about it. Anyway, on to the art!

This is Day 10! That’s 1/3 of the way through.

I want to work more on this series of reworking my photos. So that’s what I did tonight while I got my art on. This one is also 8 x 10 on canvas board. I worked it a lot, and have mixed feelings about it. But I’ll see how I feel about it tomorrow. I think the outlines are what’s bothering me. So as I painted, I toned them down with paint, which helped. I used a lot of metallic paint, which really doesn’t photograph or scan well. I want to do multiple versions using the same photograph. It’ll be interesting to see what the next one looks like.

I’m glad that more people keep joining! It’s okay if you didn’t start on July 1. Just make which ever day you start your day 1. You can see the rest of my posts for this project here.
