Here’s a tutorial on how to add a little color to your journal page or mixed-media piece by tinting gesso with pastels. This is one of the mixed-media techniques from my book The Art Journal Workshop.
Any white gesso can be used, and the same goes for the soft pastels
. (I used a generic gesso and a Mungyo soft pastel set that I got at my local hobby store.)
Be sure to wait until your page is dry before doing anymore work to it. You can let it air dry, or speed up the process with a hair dryer. Then, you are ready to journal on it!
