Traci Bunkers: Bonkers Handmade Originals: Welcome to my world of Hand-dyed Spinning Fibers & yarns & Photography & Book Arts
Studio Open House

Hello! I've been busy as usual, and have some things coming up that you might be interested in!

Holiday Open House
It seems like I just had an open house, but time has been flying by so quickly, it's already time for another one. November 12th from 1-4pm at 1313 Elmwood St, Lawrence, KS 66044. I'll have some more hand-dyed yarns and spinning fibers, and one-of-a-kind carded spinning batts. I'll also have some handmade books, along with my usuals of rubber stamps, pocket mirrors, buttons, and henna stencils. I've been so busy I haven't had time to get my new items up on my website, but keep looking! So if you can't make it, please take a look at my shop later and maybe you'll find something you like, or something that's great for a gift (or both!).

My arthouse is in the backyard. From the front of my house, go through the gate and across the side porch on the south side of my house. Hope to see you here!

Creative Hand Sale
Friday, November 18, 4-9pm & Saturday November 19, 10-5pm. Old Shawnee Town, 11600 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. This is a sale put on by the members of the Kansas City Weavers Guild & the Fiber Guild of Kansas City. What that means is handmade items galore. I'll have my hand-dyed spinning fibers and yarns there. So if you can't come to my open house, you have another chance to buy some of my things. My items will be there both days, and I'll be there Saturday if you want to see me. Please note this is a new location! Go here for more info.

Final Fridays
I'll be participating in Final Fridays in Lawrence, KS again this month because we had such a great time in September. This one happens to fall on Black Friday. But, I say skip the crazy crowded stores, and come out that evening to Final Friday! November 25th, I'll be showing some of my artwork, along with a few other friends, at 824-1/2 Massachusetts from 6:30-9:30. Final Fridays is a gallery crawl, but with the artwork showing in alternative-type venues since most galleries here have gone by the wayside. It's a great opportunity for artists to show their work and for the public to see and buy it. If you are in the area, it's a fun evening outing, and a great date night. I'll have my artwork for sale on my web site shortly after the event (hopefully! but I get busy . . .)

Spring Workshop in my Studio!
I wanted to give you advance notice for my Spring workshop so that you can start making plans to come! I'm cutting way back on traveling to teach, so coming to my studio is a great opportunity to take a workshop from my in a small setting. There is only space for 8 people, so don't wait too long to sign up. BUT! If it fills up quickly, I'll have the same workshop several weeks later to accommodate the overflow or, maybe look into having it somewhere else that can fit more people.

The Art Journal Workshop
March 31-April 1, 2012
Bonkers Art House, Lawrence, KS

Whether or not you are new to art journaling or a seasoned pro, this workshop will push you through the surface into self-exploration and self-awareness. Based on my book The Art Journal Workshop, I'll lead you through various exercises that combine writing and art making to help you create deep from within, going beyond the surface of just creating a pretty journal page. This workshop is focused on the process and the journey of journaling and not solely on the visual outcome. The finished page is an added bonus. Whether it's appealing or not isn't important. We will take off the kid gloves, cut to the chase and be straightforward with ourselves for our inner work.

The workshop will begin with covering some mixed-media techniques such as preparing the pages, painting and collaging, to help with your self-expression and as a foundation for the journaled page. All of this work will be done in a journal, old book, or sketchbook of your choosing, as long as the pages will hold up to being painted. It can be a book you are already working in, or a new one.

This class is for everyone. No writing or art experience necessary--Just a willingness to be open to creative and personal exploration!

I'm participating in a blog hop with an online art group I belong to. Each participant will have a tutorial on their blog. My tutorial will be on November 13th (the day before my birthday!), and it will be on making moldable foam stamps. I'm planning on making a video tutorial for it. Here's the list of artists:

Pages Art Journaling Magazine

One last thing! There is a special magazine on art journaling that will be out very soon called Pages, published by the Cloth Paper Scissors people. And, I have an article in it! It should be a really good magazine. It's available for pre-order and my sources say it should be out by the end of the month!

That's all for now! I've been making art everyday, so watch my blog & website for new artwork and other goodies I have for sale!
