30 Days of Get Your Art On – Day 16

journal cover 1-in progress

I am dedicated. Why do I say that? Because today I worked all day, right up to when I needed to leave for a friend’s party. I got home a little after midnight, and hadn’t done any art yet for Day 16. But instead of saying “oh well, I need to get to bed,” I went out to the studio and got my art on. And now I’m blogging about it even thought it’s 2:30am. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to sleep when I got home anyway.

I’m pretty aggressive when I’m applying acrylic paint in the early stages. And tonight I needed to be physical with getting some paint down to work out some energy. I’ve got a bunch of covers put together, ready to be painted to make into some journals that I’ll sell. So I worked on one of those. I used some of the techniques from my book Print & Stamp Lab to apply the paint with rollers and found-object stamps. Here’s a detail.

I wanted to stop working on the cover for tonight because it really was getting late. So I used up the excess paint to start the next spread in my visual journal.

The first layer of red was applied with a credit card, then I put on the lavender with my hands. It felt great on my fingers and hands to do this. Then I used a baby wipe to scrub it around. You can see the rest of my posts for this project here.

  1. I agree with everyone else SUPER COLOR choices! It really reflects the high energy you were experiencing. As you can see by my day 17 post I was channeling your color choices 🙂

I welcome any feedback on my Day 13 post – I am volunteering at an art gallery that works with adults with developmental disabilities and I need your help and advice on the art project we are producing. THANK YOU!!! Peace

  2. Bright and layered. Love it. It’s amazing how quickly we can push our private creative time aside if we allow ourselves too. I’m glad your keeping with it. How are you feeling about it? Have you noticed a change in how you’re feeling?

  3. love the colors you’ve been using-very festive! i’ve been trying to be creative every day since this started, but a. not happening every day and b. not posting any of it but one day on my blog-maybe that should be my goal too!
