Hey, how are you? I’ve been a busy hamster, working on all kinds of things. I’ve been trying to do art on a regular basis, and I recently posted some of it in my shop.
This Friday, May 25th from 5-9pm, I’ll be showing it at Lawrence’s Final Friday Gallery Crawl with the Lawrence Art Party in the Hobbs Tayor Lofts at 718 New Hampshire. If you are in the area, please come by! I’ll be in a space with 20+ other artists, and there will be a band. Hopefully I’ll sell some art AND have a good time.
Then the following Saturday is my summer open house in my orange Art House. I’ve been dyeing like a maniac because not only do I have my open house, but also the Estes Park Wool market the following weekend. I’ve got several new yarns, and also some new colorways. Here’s some of what I’ve been dyeing up in fiber.
Summer Open House
June 2nd from 1-4pm at 1313 Elmwood St, Lawrence, KS 66044.
I’ll be filled to the brim with hand-dyed spinning fiber & yarn. I already have so much dyed up, I’ll probably have to have it piled on the table since the shelves are already full. This is your chance to have first dibbs before I take it to the Estes Park Wool Market! If you are unable to stop by, check out my online shop. I’m still in the process of switching to my new shopping cart system, mainly because I wanted to rephotograph everything since my product photography has improved. But I do have a lot of my mixed-media supplies in my shop, and I’m working on the fiber & yarn. So keep checking! I’m trying to regularly add things to get all caught up.
My arthouse is in the backyard. From the front of my house, go through the gate and across the side porch on the south side of my house. Hope to see you here!
Estes Park Wool Market
June 9th from 9-5pm, June 10th from 9-4pm at the Stanley Park Fairgrounds in Estes Park, CO.
I’ll be vending at the Estes Park Wool Market. I think this is my 17th year as a vendor there! If you’ve never been, it’s fabulous. There are fiber workshops before the main event. Then during the weekend, there are demos, animal competitions, and of course the market where you can get all kinds of yarn, fiber, equipment, and even some finished products.
Fall Workshops in Santa Fe!
I’m teaching 2 workshops in Sanata Fe, New Mexico this fall at Guadalupe’s Fun Rubber Stamps. I’m really excited about this. I know it seems like September is a long ways away, but don’t wait too long or the classes might be full. You can register through Guadalupe’s Fun Rubber Stamps 505-982-9862.
The Prepared Journal
September 15, 2012, 9am-4pm
This process and project-oriented class will teach you a fun, and stress-free way to colorfully transform an ordinary book into a journal or artist’s book. Using the style of a gluebook for a jumping off point, we will create visual and tactile layers with collage, painting and stamping, metamorphosing a book into a finished work of art in itself, or the basis for a visual journal.
Love and Fear
September 16, 2012, 9am-4pm
Simply put, we operate out of either love or fear. And as Louise Hay puts it, the guru of self-healing, everything comes down to loving yourself. I have been on a personal quest of self-discovery that is leading me to uncover and discover that I am my own super hero. I’m here to help you do the same through creative expression.
21 Secrets Online Workshops
Just a reminder about 21 Secrets–the online group of 21 journal-focused workshops. I’m one of the teachers! It is open, and the students are making incredible work! But don’t worry, there is still plenty of time to sign up and work at your own pace. The registration fee is only $59 which gives you acess to all of theworkshops, and everyone enrolled has 24/7 access to them until January 1, 2013. So there is plenty of time to take them all in, day or night, dressed or in your PJs. Here’s the link for more info.
WAIT! I almost forgot . . . did you know I have cool decorative tape in my shop to use in your art journal and other mixed-media work?
