30 Days of Get Your Art On – 10.01.12

It’s great staring off on the first day of a new month by making art! I was thinking about the start of 30 days of Get Your Art On all weekend. Not necessarily on the details of what I’ll be doing, but just how much work I’ve gotten done in the past during my “30 Days Of . . .” challenges. And to be honest, I’m a little nervous about a show I’ve got coming up in January where I’ll be displaying my work in a bank. I need to make a lot of new pieces for it.

The way I’ve been working lately is to start by collaging down a background onto canvases. I’ve already got a few collaged canvases in the works for some new pieces, but wanted to get some more ready. Plus, I find it very soothing to “glue shit down,” as my pal Bobbi Studstill and I say.

I started by collaging on a smaller 12″ x 12″, but then wanted to work bigger. So I switched over to this 20″ x 20″ canvas. I also got a few pieces collaged onto an even bigger canvas, but there’s not enough yet on it to make it worth showing. I like working on several pieces at the same time.

I hope everyone who is also doing 30 days of Get Your Art On got off to a good start today.
