The 3 photographs in this piece were all taken in my neighborhood. I usually carry a camera with me while walking my dog in case I want to capture something.
SOLD! This is an original mixed-media painting that combines collage, my original photographs printed on canvas and paper, and acrylic paint on plywood; sealed with polymer varnish.
The piece is signed and dated on the front. The sides are painted so it can either be hung as is, or framed. The back has vinyl bumpers to protect the wall.
I approach creating these mixed-media pieces much like working in my visual journals. I have no preconceived idea of what the outcome will look like or exactly what I’m going to do. I just start working and see where it takes me, adding paint, collage & photos, sometimes sewing, sometimes printing or stamping, until I know the piece is finished.

In this piece, my photograph of a cemetery statue started as the background. I collaged, stenciled, painted and stamped around the image to create a visual frame.
A love of my past lived in the country in Baldwin City, Kansas. He had a lovely field of poppies near his house that I loved to photograph. The photo in this piece was taken with a Holga camera.
The photograph in the center is my neighbor's chair. It always seems to be beckoning me to come over and take a seat. The distressed, layered background of this piece nicely compliments the weather, vintage chair.
