Reconciled Peace
Click image to see it larger. The rustic chair in my neighborhood, that I often pass on my walks, was just begging for me to photograph it. When I clipped "For in this solitude she had won to a reconciled peace," from an old book, I knew it belonged with this chair. 8" x 6"

This is an original mixed-media painting on stretched canvas that combines collage, one of my original photographs printed on canvas, and acrylic paint; sealed with polymer varnish.
The piece is ready to hang. It’s signed on the front, and signed, dated & titled on the back. The sides are painted so it can either be hung as is, or framed.
I approach creating these mixed-media pieces much like working in my visual journals. I have no preconceived idea of what the outcome will look like or exactly what I’m going to do. I just start working and see where it takes me, adding paint, collage & photos, sometimes sewing, sometimes printing or stamping, until I know the piece is finished.

(Note: I do my best to make sure the color looks accurate, but, everyone’s monitor is different. So the color might look different in real life than it does on your computer.)

An Open invitation
$65.00
The photograph in the center is my neighbor's chair. It always seems to be beckoning me to come over and take a seat. The distressed, layered background of this piece nicely compliments the weathered, vintage chair. 8" x 6"

Remembered
$150.00
The picture is part of a mausoleum gate in the cemetery across from my house. I find the ironwork on it very beautiful. This is the family mausoleum of John P. Usher, who was President Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of Interior. 12" x 12"

Bessie's Sweet Memories
$100.00
I took the photograph with my plastic Holga camera in downtown Lawrence, Kansas. The special effect was created while taking the picture. I titled this piece "Bessie's Sweet Memories" because Bessie Clancy was handwritten on the sheet music "Sweet Memories" that I collaged as part of the background. 8" x 10"
