This lacy tam is knitted from the center out and only uses 1 skein of yarn.

This pattern is for a lacy knit hat is worked circularly from the stem out to the ribbing starting on double-pointed needles and then changing to circular needles. It is for an intermediate knitter, or adventurous advanced beginner. The pattern has both complete written instructions and a chart–either one can be followed to knit the hat and both types of knitters will be happy! It is worked on size 7 needles using my lovely Hand-dyed Superwash Merino Minis yarn, that is a DK-weight superwash wool.

Size: Hat is approximately 20″ around at ribbing and approximately 31″ around widest part. Fits 20″ to 22″ head. To make smaller or larger, change needle sizes.

Materials: 1 skein Superwash Merino Minis (100% superwash merino wool, 112 yds per 1.75 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals, shown in cranberry-OR-Hand-dyed Sport Wool (100% wool, 184 yds per 1.75 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals (this thinner yarn will result in a lacier hat). Knitting needles sizes 7 & 5 US (4.5mm & 3.75mm) 16″ circular and size 7 US (4.5mm) double-pointed needles or whatever size needed to get correct gauge; yarn needle; 1 stitch marker.

Gauge: 20 sts and 24 rows to 4″ in St st using larger needle.

Stitches used: Knit, purl, bobble, S2KP2, k2tog, ssk, yo, and I-cord. These are all explained in the pattern. The pattern has the complete instructions both written out and charted.

Yarn is available for this hat using my hand-dyed yarns, but is not yet listed. Please let me know if you would like the yarn for this project.
