Richard's Poppies
Click image to see it larger.A love of my past lived in the country in Baldwin City, Kansas. He had a lovely field of poppies near his house that I loved to photograph. The photo in this piece was taken with a Holga camera. 12" x 12"
$150.00
This is an original mixed-media painting that combines collage, one of my original photographs printed on canvas, cotton thread, and acrylic paint on canvas; sealed with polymer varnish.
The piece is signed and dated on the front. The sides are painted so it can either be hung as is, or framed.
I approach creating these mixed-media pieces much like working in my visual journals. I have no preconceived idea of what the outcome will look like or exactly what I’m going to do. I just start working and see where it takes me, adding paint, collage & photos, sometimes sewing, sometimes printing or stamping, until I know the piece is finished.

(Note: I do my best to make sure the color looks accurate, but, everyone’s monitor is different. So the color might look different in real life than it does on your computer.)

Distraction
$900.00
Shortly after I started this piece mid June 2012, my beloved cat, Goliath, disappeared. The painting changed focus and became about him. The piece is titled "Distraction" because I felt everything I did, other than trying to find him, was just a distraction for me until we were reunited. I searched extensively and exhaustively for him, but he was never found.

In this piece, my photograph of a cemetery statue started as the background. I collaged, stenciled, painted and stamped around the image to create a visual frame. 12" x 12"

Remembered
$150.00
The picture is part of a mausoleum gate in the cemetery across from my house. I find the ironwork on it very beautiful. This is the family mausoleum of John P. Usher, who was President Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of Interior. 12" x 12"
