Here is day 2! Just like yesterday, I didn’t get to it until close to bed time, so I opted for a small stamp. After choosing the eraser to use and tracing around it in my sketchbook, I did several quick sketches. Luckily this time the design transferred easily onto the eraser using the chartpak blender marker. The eraser that I chose was from a packaged set I got at my local Dollar Tree. I love the square size with the rounded corners, but this time I didn’t use the outer edge as part of the design. As you can see, I like printing the stamp again in a different color, to give a bit of an off-set printed look.
I wanted to do some sketching before going to sleep, so I just did it in bed. Yesterday I used a fine Pitt Pen, and this time I decided to use a brush marker (but still a Pitt) to help me loosen up. To loosen up even more so that I could concentrate on the seeing, I held the marker by the end. And, I learned a lesson when it comes to blind contour drawings–start at the top of whatever you are drawing! I started at the bottom, and by the time I got near the top of my foot, I was out of paper. So I finished as best I could, and then did another. I think I like the heavier line better. I was so excited by my wonky feet & toes, that it was a little hard for me to get to sleep.
Here are my other posts for this project.
Great project! Looks like fun.
Love your sketching- I am trying to sketch everyday……. this stamp is fabulous love the different color double stamp idea!!!!
Carve on Chica!!!
Thanks Laurie & Elizabeth. I'm enjoying the sketching as much as I'm enjoying the carving. I've tried to make commitments in the past to do things like this, and I was never able to stick to them. I am hoping since I decided to post it to my blog everyday, it will help hold me to it! So far so good!
I really like these stamp patterns – the printing red/black does look kind of funky like newsprint. Your stamping work is always inspiring, especially seeing how repeating simple designs results in the coolest looks.
Sweet. What kind of erasers do you use?
