Right before Thanksgiving, I participated in the Creative Hand Show & Sale, sponsored by the Kansas City Fiber Guild & Weavers Guild of Kansas City. I’ve been a guild member for over 20 years, and have been doing the sale almost as long. And each year it gets better and better. Not only do we have fiber supplies and handmade fiber items, we also have pottery, jewelry, soaps and other things. I took a bunch of pictures, and put them together in a little slide show. (If you have trouble viewing the slide show, click here.)
It’s a crazy busy time for me. Last Friday I showed my work at Final Friday–my town’s gallery crawl. And this Friday, I’m showing my work at First Friday in the KC Crossroads Arts District. It will be my first time to do First Friday in Kansas City, and I’m excited about it since it’s a much bigger area. I’ll be at the Slap ‘n Tickle Gallery. So if you are in the area and getting out for First Friday, stop by, say hi and check out my work!
I’m also participating in two, yes two, blog hops right now.
One is the Artspark’s Winter Tutorial Blog Hop. Each day, 6 different Artspark artists will have a holiday themed tutorial. Lyric Kinard started it off today with a beautifully delicate snowflake pinwheel ornament.
Here’s the schedule:
Artspark’s Winter Tutorial Blog Hop
- Dec 4 – Lyric Kinard – Snowflake Pinwheel Ornament
- Dec 5 – Tracie Lyn Huskamp – Surprise Tutorial!
- Dec 6 – Judy Perez – Speculatius-St. Nicolas cookies
- Dec 7 – Jill Berry – Mini Book Ornament
- Dec 8 – Traci Bunkers – Star Garland
- Dec 9 – Lisa Engelbrecht – Easy Gilded Letters for Cards
The other blog hop I’m in is to introduce Jill K. Berry’s new line of stencils, TEXTures, from Artistcellar. There are 4 stencils to this set, and they are all from Jill’s abstracted calligraphic work.
With each day of the blog hop, that artist will show work that they created using the stencils, and will give away a set!
- Nov 30 – Jill Berry
- Dec 3 – Sketchbook Challenge Guest post
- Dec 4 – Seth Apter
- Dec 5 – Diana Trout
- Dec 6 – Traci Bunkers
- Dec 7 – Tracy Verdugo
- Dec 8 – Anne Gaal
- Dec 9 – Effy Wild
- Dec 10 – Dawn DeVries Sokol
- Dec 11 – Aimee Myers Dolich

I am loving the fibers, and all your pics. I also love stencils, and would be berry happy to win some. LOL. thanks for the chance.
I frequently use stencils but they can be a challenge to make. I appreciate the opportunity to win these stencils as they are so intricate and would be so very useful. surpriseartist@gmail.com
