30 Days of Get Your Art On – Day 12

It’s pouring rain right now! I’m so glad because it has been crazy hot. I don’t have air conditioning in my house, but thankfully I do have a portable air conditioner in my Art House. I was out there working away, finishing this piece that I started yesterday. I could hear the thunder getting more frequent, and my dog Ruby was getting pretty scared. There was a bit of a temporary trauma when we ran from the art house, which is in my back yard, to my house. Ruby is really afraid of storms. But, she’ll hide outside during them instead of coming inside. I had a hold of her collar almost dragging her as I was running to the house. Then right as I was going up the porch steps and let go of her collar, she disappeared. I ran around my yard calling her, and looking-nothing. I went in and got a flash light, and searched every where around my yard (which isn’t that big). It was raining so hard, the rain was running in my eyes and I couldn’t see. I was about ready to cry. I didn’t want to just leave her out there. But I didn’t know what to do. Luckily I finally found her hiding behind a piece of wood leaning against my shed. I had to drag her out and drag her into the house. It was crazy.

But we’re both safe and sound in the house now. With this storm, hopefully more of that tree whose big branch fell on my trailer won’t come down. And hopefully the one next to it, the one on the power lines and cable lines won’t do anything either. Maybe I better light some candles just in case.

I am happy with how this piece turned out. I am really enjoying reworking my photos, and like the direction I’m going with them. I’m really glad I found the square canvas boards. I didn’t knew they existed! Several days ago, I was talking to my pal, Juliana Coles, about what I was working on. She’s the one who told me that “they” do indeed make square canvas board! And speaking of Juliana, I’m so excited because today I booked my flight for a vacation. I’m going to visit her in Albuquerque and another very dear friend, Karla Winterowd, in Santa Fe. This will be the first vacation in several years, so I’m super happy about it. Juliana and I are going to make art the whole time! And Karla owns a lovely art gallery on Canyon Road. So I’ll be completely immersed in art-making and art-viewing during my trip.

How is everyone doing with getting your art art? You can see the rest of my posts for this project here.

    • What browser are you using and how are you getting to my blog? I’ve had 2 others mention this, but I’ve tried Firefox, opera, chrome & Safari, and it never has done it for me–so I can’t figure out why it’s happening. One person said it only happened when she went to my blog through her link on blogger or facebook.

  1. I’m glad nothing too major got damaged during the storm. What if you propped the ladder up against your house, stood on it and tried to see onto the art house roof? Is it still too steep? And poor Ruby, Jack does the same thing, except he hides under my desk and shivers.

Good luck with the rest of your 30 days, I’m glad we get to follow along 🙂
