30 Days of Drawing – 12.05.11

12.05.11 drawing

I did my drawing this evening while listening to my Monday night class by Eric Maisel. I’m taking a 14-week tele-workshop from him called “Your Best Life in the Arts.” It’s pretty amazing. I usually take notes, but I decided tonight I would hang out on the couch and draw while I listened.

Drawing tonight with my furry friend

This was my set-up. I perched my Koi watercolor set on my cat, Shelby, while she was lying on my legs. She didn’t mind. I knew I would want to color my drawing in with watercolors, so I used a Sakura Identi-Pen because it’s a permanent marker. I didn’t try to hurry. I just took my time, and enjoyed it while I listened to my class.

Balancing act

Then I started filling it in with my Koi watercolor set. I decided after I had it all colored in to add a shadow. For that I used a Derwent water soluble sketching pencil. Then I went over it with my wet brush to blend it into the watercolor.

I hope everyone else who is joining me is enjoying their drawing experience! It’s not too late to join! Grab a badge from the right to put on your web site or blog, and click on the link for participants and add your name!
