30 Days of Drawing – 12.10.11

12.10.11 drawing

I spent the whole day going through papers and files and hundreds and hundreds of e-mails (still have thousands to got through!), as part of getting organized. I took 56 lbs of paper to be shredded and about 20 lbs to recycling. I wish I could visibly see that what I did made a difference, but unless you open a now empty filing cabinet, or look where I store receipts for taxes, you can’t tell. It’s a process. But I had to clean out the filing cabinet to have a place to file all of the stacks of papers after I go through them.

So, I decided to take it easy tonight and watch a movie while I drew. I watched Greenberg. I needed a funny movie. The DVD case says “Extremely entertaining! The wonder of the film is how good it makes us feel.” Well, it didn’t make me feel good. It made me feel kinda down and lonely. In some ways it was good. But I wouldn’t call it funny. I’m glad I drew during it.

I drew one of the plants I got the other day. I’m attracted to odd plants, and this one is a kalanchoe prolifera. I used the usual: Sharpie Fine-point Pen & my Koi watercolor set. You can see the rest of my posts for 30 Days of Drawing here.

    • Plants that are really leafy can seem intimidating. In those cases, I focus on the closest leaves, and then work out. Sometimes just try to capture the look & feel of the plant without trying to be completely accurate. Hope that helps!
